This is pretty great. I haven't been going out a lot lately but when I do, I definitely get 80% of the flack featured in this video when I approach groups of girls over 3 to a bunch. Mitro claims that when he was up here I was just sitting at the bar tapping this girl on the shoulder for over a minute saying hey whats your name and she literally wouldn't turn around. I wasn't even that drunk and remember it a bit differently, i was offering her some cashews and thought the bass was overpowering my tapping on the shoulder so i persisted... Jiro Dream of Sushi and Der Der dream of girlzz

While Der Der decided to take a trip up to Isla Vister tonight and grind at tonic with his instagram and temple run followers, I sit here watching Apple trailers. Viski inspired the heck out of me to watch more films that just don't feature hip actors with blogs who are also in bands and have clothing lines and do improv on the side and date celebrity girlfriends who are also designers who's parents own studios (#hypebeast), so I've been taking his rec's and he's been on point (our dual post is coming soon, stay tuned for review of a great film titled Senna). Today I found this, so here is a doc that I am really stoked to check out.
I can only assume that my love of delicious hole-in-the-wall sushi spots has been passed on from Tom (my pops) ever since we used to dine at all the best sushi spots in Tahoe when I was a pro-ho Truckee brat (ok, I was a weekend local on the B team at Northstar, but I did give everyone on the team a nickname so I was basically like on the A team.. SUE ME!) and Tom would make me sit at the bar with him while he enjoyed a warm Sake or 6, while i'd reminisce about the boners i got from school dances the previous night and attempt to talk sports with the old man.. a couple of 65' Red Sox references every ten minutes sufficed. But, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I have a sweet spot for sushi and the smiles and nods the chefs would casually throw our way as we would attempt to order correctly.

Anyway, this trailer struck a chord with me and I know you all have become foodies in your respective cities so I hope this inspires more fine dining for you all in the future. Maybe Duncs and Blip can videotape Hillary and scudds feeding each-other yellow tail sashimi, now that is a doc idea!

Also, Here are a few of my favorite shots from today, my last day without a job. Tomorrow I start my first odd job, Valet at a restaurant down by the water. I figure it will give me a few months to figure out if I want to be a Doctor, lawyer, astro-physicist, start a company called Facebook or invent under water walky talkies. Cheers boys!

As most of you are very enthusiastic sports fan I'm sure all of you have crossed this thought many of times, as I've been watching the penn state Joe pa news over the past few days this thought has become ever so apparent, I wish I could have went to a school where sports really matter! Although glorified homeless caricatures, couch burning rituals, the dude who offers crazy sauce and lolipops at iv deli with every purchase and beach front property is something to be proud of, being apart of a really dope sports school would make me feel way less lame having an alumni plate on the back of my car. Morbid Side Note:

A few nights ago a mysterious man hung himself on the fire escape outside the window to my apartment, literally 3 feet away from my front door. The creepiest part was that Scudder and I both walked passed him in the morning on our way to work, too zombie'd out to notice. (We may or may not have taken some muscle relaxers the night before) There are a few theories floating around as to why this dude did the deed. I think that he was fed up with Scud's new infatuation with Dub Step and martyred himself to make a statement just like the guy who lit himself on fire in Tunisia thereby starting the Arab Spring. Scudder thinks that the guy was unhappy with ending to the last Game of Thrones book.

(I feel like I have license to make fun of this guy simply because of the proximity of the hanging to where I sleep... such a douchey thing for this guy to blow up my spot like that... RIP)

The other day I was thinking: what is more awesome? cup-holders or pockets. I sat, pondering at my desk the better half of the afternoon, going through item by item the pros/cons of each. (Cup-holders are extremely versatile: good for change, sunglasses, and even a large mountain dew from taco bell. However, they are often sticky and sometimes are not properly sized for the enormous fishbowls they give out these days. Pockets, also are versatile and have the ability to come in different shapes, sizes, and locations--shirts, jorts, even vulvas! However, pockets are notorious for swallowing things--especially electronics--and camoflougaing your treasures so well they end up swimming in the wash--not CHILL).

Besides the fact that hallucinogens have seemingly started seeping into my brain (i keed i keed, LOL), the pocket v. cup-holder debate somehow brought me to an old t-shirt design from this summer, and started playing around in photoshop the other night. I came up with a few designs, and I'm pretty stoke on em, so I think I may actually do an exclusive run of about 20 or so. However, I really feel strongly that each of the 'U' 's are hand sewn-pockets, and the recipient choose what kind of fabric he would like.

Happy new year to all my besties. Is it too late for a new years post? New years was a lot of fun and it was great to see all the boys, couple brews for the boys! I will say I wasn't too stoked on the housing arrangements as we got in over our heads pertaining to the amount of people we piled into a small cabin but i'm also gonna do my best to deal with uncontrolled circumstances better in the future. I guess I just like hiplectic vibes and am not too stoked on outside forces and people I don't know that well sharing my chill/living space with over a long weekend. nobody else had any complaints so I think it was just me and my uncertain employment situation and me being a head case that I sorta wanted it to be a little bit different than it was but i'm just being a whiny weenie, it was a fucking blast

Michael paul needs to come on every trip we ever go on in the future he is my new hero and Todd should really look up to him as he is a master of aviation, plus mitro told me today he purchased another RC copter that was priced at $60 (what derek claims he makes in 5 minutes at work). There was some classic moments up in mammoth, my favorite being when Danielle's friend Kayla called out derek for holding a "prop cigarette" in his mouth while djing. Like der der needs anymore stress when he's hosting a party, JEEZE give the kid a break! I was a little disappointed that we never got to see Bobby Browns sister though WTF duncan, at least we got to see Tony Hawk in the village and a gay dancing baby. I also found out that Zunich is going to be a wonderful mother to Souzas child, when their kid is dropped on his head instead of providing a comfy lap to lay in or a warm bottle of milk, a cold beer will most likely be substituted as necessary. We came to the conclusion that mitro's "type" consists of innocent young girls and will most likely be ruled out as a godfather to most of our children. This weekend Scudds is coming down to LA and bliplectic has opted out of the trip and has stated his reason being that he needs to go down to SD to see his "family". When in fact I have inside information that he has dedicated the entire month of January to finding Tammy. Blip's lady is gonna be heated you guys.

Tonight I dragged Der Der to this theatre I've become intrigued with that hosts improv and stand up comedy. It costs $5 and is BYOB. Plus it gives us an excuse to get out to hollywood without being sold on dreams of "bottles and bitches" by Sandy and his circus. To our surprise we saw Aziz Ansari, who I have a 18yr old girl man crush on and consider him one of my idols (yes Gabe some of us have idols other than our fathers who taught us life values and how to swing a hammer and make an honest buck) and yes you have to come next time and yes you have to roll up on your unbelievably sick new motorcycle that rivals each and everyone of Paul Walkers twinky toys, hopefully "the drop" went well tonight with Tommy Naps. Anyway, Der Der raised his hand earlier in the night as one of the openers asked if anyone was experiencing any shit in their lives at the moment, and had a full on conversation with the comedian on how he hates his job as a construction worker and the guy ate it up (der was the only one who had balls to raise their hand) and had a lot of compassion for Der der as his reason for experiencing shit in his life was that he has to work for his dad. The comedian probably had daddy issues since he went so easy on der and really was just shocked that derek considered this to be a shitty circumstance and told him to stop being a whiny bitch, I thought der was gonna cry he was so nervous but he was pretty toasted, handling himself very well, i was impressed, bravo der! Anyways it is always a fuckin blast there and I hope to bring each and everyone of you up there and share the awesomeness! Thats all for now guys, Hope 2012 treats everyone well and I heart you all. yes I'm uncomfortable with saying I love you all. Lets all plan Coachella sooon!!!

I hope you guys all had a blast on New Years Eve. (From the looks of each of J-bone's 1000's mammoth mobile uploads, it looks like you guys had a pretty good time). So I was thinking about making one of those blogs that people make when they study abroad to chronicle their travels aka brag about all of the cool shit they are doing, but I always find those things pretty lame/douchy. So, I decided to start trying to do an at least bi-weekly update on here to keep you guys in the loop of the life of your favorite young gun. I landed in DC yesterday and I am having a blast already. My three roomates are all really cool dudes who like to booze and get their shit done too. There are a couple good looking girls in the program, but nothing to really write home about. Also, its cold as balls here: about 30 degrees the past couple days. That is definitely gonna take some getting used to. Anyways, no real substance in this post expect to say what up and that I miss all yall. Expect more in the very near future.

Unfortunately, a pretty good childhood friend of mine was killed over winter break in a drunk driving accident. It hit me and the rest of the Stockton community pretty hard. People often comment on the tight-knit nature of people from Stockton, and I think that this video really exemplifies that. Greetings gremlins. It's been a while, but I just discovered that instead of staring at AZNS on the train and wondering if they are skilled enough to beat Bowwow in a driPHt-off (circa fast and furious Tokyo drift of course), I downloaded a little app that allows me to mobile blog.

Now I'm by no means promising that these incoherent rants are going to become a regular occurrence, but my left headphone died, I'm still an hour out of the city, and dinner options are looking more and more like taquitos and a banquet beer tonight.

So what better way to pass the time than to get back in the blogging game. First, however, I just want to give a little emo-shout out to everyone that has kept this blog alive over the last few months. I've certainly been MIA, but I can promise you that i check it too many times a day, and it legitimately keeps my heart beating and a smile on my pHace.

Moving forward from my PMSing, SF threw a pretty good party this weekend. It's called Santacon and essentially everyone dresses up as Santa, and gets wasted. I'm pretty sure the concept was conceived by some former star of To Catch a Predator, but the festival has really evolved, and San Francisco has eaten it up. We got super wasted and had an awesome time. Wish you boys coulda joined, but just promise you'll all cruise up for Bay to Breakers.

Hope everyone is hanging in there (and also hanging a little lower than out friend here in the picture) and looking forward to a few days of R&R over the holidaze. If anyone has any new music it would be greatly appreciated, especially since Santa will be picking me up some new headphones that work in BOTH EARS.

It wasn't too long ago when you couldn't log on to Hiplectic without seeing news, pics, tracks, or inspiration from Kid Cudi. We blasted his tracks at the corner house, conversed about him and were much in part inspired by his individuality. Holiday Party Season

Tis the season fellas. It's my favorite time of year...Holiday Party Season! For the next few weekends all of the companies in this great nation are having their holiday fiestas. Holiday parties are notoriously easy to crash so that means open bars, gift bags, and free food are ours for the taking. The fact that this is the one night of the year where you can sexually harass your coworkers without any repercussions from HR is an added bonus.

To understand how stoked I get off this time of year, picture all the things you guys like (Fixies,Pain Killers, Electro, The US Military, Kelly Slater, Blogging, American Idol, Natasha, Punk Rock, Red Bull, BirdMan/John Connor, OCCUPYING my facebook feed with anti-OCCUPY talking points and/or corner house memories, Hipsters, Hipster Tits, SAE, Documentaries, LA, Skim Boarding, Snowboarding, the Dodgers, Big Leaguin, The English Patient, Facebook Stalking, Bottle Service, Isla Vista)... and then imagine doing them all in one night. It's pretty freaking awesome so get out there and crash some parties.

On a side note: Some of you are probably wondering why Duncan has been MIA from the blaaag. When he is not working, helping me figure out parrondo's paradox for sports betting purposes, and facetiming with his lady... he has been working on his other blog, Texts from Bennett.

So I went to this improv theatre tonight up in the hollyhood and saw Ben Scwartz (parks and rec) and Donald Glover (childish gambino) along with a few other unknowns do improv for about 2 hours. It was fucking unbelieivably funny and i laughed my dick off. About 80 people in the audience, sold out, intimate audience (yes it was exclusive and uber hip crowd).

I discovered this black dude Donald Glover who was by far the funniest and most intelligent (chris rock like) and the most innaproproate of em all. I googled him when I got him and noticed he is a rapper as well. Check out his flows, prettttty dope!

I wouldn't dare say a negative thing about Restrepo, ever, it's one of the most daring, painstankingly exciting, and informative films i've seen in a long long time. But, I read this film is even better done. Looks like they take a more "back-home" approach although it also looks like they do show a lot of war footage. check it out.

Been a hot minute since my last post, but here goes nothing.

The other night, the stockton crew and I decided to watch Thats It, Thats All and it really had me reflecting on the glory days of the corner house, the early days of Hiplectic, and all the damn good times we had in this 1 square mile of sin we call IV. I miss the fuck out of all you guys and I really hope we can get some type of reunion (cough, vegas trip, snowboard trip cough) soon. Fall quarter has been awesome so far, but it has definitely been way different without all of you guys here. Other than the absence of the Corner Crew & Co, not much has really changed; Im still sickeningly good at FIFA, doing my radio grind, listening to absurdly good music, and maintaining an above average hoop game. Im gonna be in DC all winter quarter for the UCDC program so I am pretty stoked about that. I hope the real world has been good to y'all, and don't hesitate to holla at ya boy. If you are ever in the area, you know who's couch you can sleep on.

Anyways,

This is a really cool new band called The Horrible Crowes. The band is the side project of Brian Fallon, the lead singer of the Gaslight Anthem (another phenomenal "punk and roll" band). Pretty mellow, catchy, folksy acoustic rock that I know some of you guys will dig.

Why hello everyone. How's everything? Wonderful. I figure I would give everyone a quick update on what the hell I'm doing with my life since some of you may not know or only know parts of it. No, I'm not joining the French Air Force. But I just took a test that officers take for the navy, along with three additional sections for pilots. My scores were OAR 65, AQR 8, PFAR 8, FOFAR 8. If you want to see a prior score distribution click here and scroll down about halfway. This link gives a really good overview of the test if you want to know what it's on. Anyways, I scored high enough to qualify for pilot, which I'm really stoked about.

Now I submit an application with letters of rec, transcripts, and other stuff to a board sometime between Jan and March. They look at that, plus my medical exam and background investigation. Then I pray to God they say yes and recommend me for a pilot slot. And if that's the case, I'm off to OCS around July and then flight school. So I may be contacting some of you to ask if I can use you as references. I would greatly appreciate it. But that's about it with my life.

I am sure you kiddies noticed the generous amount of vintage NBA jerseys draping off the slim shoulders the dudes trying to film Animal Collective on stage with their white iphones this year at coachella. Chances are that maybe one or two of you bloggers were wearing a throwback (replica) jersey too. Hipsters love showing their skinny white arms and even then New York Times is noticing.

Although we hate his music, Pruett is one of the most passionate people i've ever met. He's a little odd but who isn't? Not Gabe, he's so normal. I followed him around for a few days and went to his radio show in which he shits and breathes punk music. Following their obsession with painstakingly timed out videos from treadmills to warehouse sized domino setups, OK Go has given us some entertaining videos the last couple of years and I'v been the one to usually throw them up. Although this wasn't the post I wanted as my return to Hiplectic after a lengthy hiatus, I felt I had to show you guys this one.

At first its seems rather simple and maybe un eventful but keep watching. Soon youll find yourself questioning the orientation of everything as the video becomes more and more complicated and the concept becomes cooler and cooler.

In the end like usual, in my mind, OK-Go doesnt disappoint and delivers another awesome video that is as unique as it is intricate.

As some of you know i have become an XM/Siruis addict. My two favorite stations are Howardstern100 and Hipster run off radio. You all know about Howard so a post about him would be pointless. Hipster run off radio is fucking hilarious.. It is hosted by a melancholy, mid 30's uber uber hipster who's identity remains unknown to the world. Think Uber hipster like NYU meets Fortuna st. meets Andy Warhol meets Bevmo who was ass banged by Ned. For all of you who are unassociated with a couple of those references just trust me on this.

The guy is absolutely serious as all hell and plays brand spankin new indie beats as well as talks about his life and how he will be "alt" till death. He claims everyone else is "Lamestream."

Some of the things that Carls enjoys; vaca, people that are alt and not lamestream, riding chill waves, all bro chill parties, grass fed chocolate milk and vaca. Carls gets a little dark sometimes then he thinks of vaca and is happy again. Carls is not a usual hipster.. He is entirely unusual. He doesn't play that much music on his podcasts but they fucking entertaining (to me at least).

He is sincerely worried that Oprah, Coachella and the Kardashians are making alternative indie music irrelevant.. He is not joking. He goes by the name of Carls but will not disclose his real identity. People call in and ask if there is a hipster culture in jail as they will be doing a short stint for DUI's and Graffitti. People call in and tell Carls that they are in mid hipster life crisis and don't know whether to attend coachella or outsidelands as outside lands grass is more well kept than the empire polo grounds.. The show is entertaining as all hell but i will only recommend it if u are extremely bored as the dude is very very bizarre. check this podcast for a preview of hipster run off radio.. I will guarantee this you will acquire at least 3 new witty phrases per show. At least check out his voice

What's good. Long time, no talk, but I have a couple Grade-A posts up my sleeve. First of all I want to say that I fucking miss everyone, with the exception of Todd's ugly ass (obvi). IV is definitely not the same without the HiPLECTiC crew to guide me and make sense of my bi-weekly girl issues. Having said that, I am having a fantastic summer living with Ldub and getting lots of 1 on 1 time with JBone. My new place may be small, but anyone who needs a crash pad in IV for the night or the weekend, you know who to call. Anyways, on with the post.

The other night I had the chance to go see Dead to Me, one of my all time favorite punk bands, play a show down in SLO (Enjoy the pics. All taken with my droid using no zoom) Having not seen the band live for about 3 years, my stoked levels were at an all time high. It also marked the first show I have gone to since I turned 21, and that would prove to be interesting. The show was one of the most inspiring and raw performances that I have ever seen. The crowd was much smaller than I expected, but all of the bands brought the heat and got the place moving. Taking my usual place right in front of the stage, it felt like the bands were almost performing just for me. Dead to Me and the supporting acts played a great, high energy show that I will remember for the rest of my life.

However, the highlight of my night came after the show was over (and after the last of 4 of my Jack and cokes from the bar). As me and my buddy were leaving the venue, I saw the lead singer of Dead to Me just chilling out front, smoking a cigarette. I saw him before the show and pussyed out and did not talk to him, and I was not about to let that happen again. Talking advantage of the liquid courage that I usually use to say something retarded to a girl, I went up to the lead singer and just started talking. It was incredible. We bullshitted about punk for about 10 mins and he told me he was stoked to do an interview for my radio show. Definitely one of the highlights of my life. It is always refreshing to find out that your heroes are real people who do what they do because they love it.

PS. Absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the post, but this is a jimmy10time approved track you all need to hear ASAP. Its called Sleep Rules Everything Around Me and it is a mashup of CREAM by Wu-Tang and Instrument by a post-punk band called Fugazi. A couple rappers from this crew called Doomtree joined forces and decided to make an entire CD of wu-tang/fugazi mashups. Calling their effort Wugazi, they produced an incredible 13 track cd that is meant to serve as a homage to both Wu-Tang and Fugazi (Download here). Anyways, this song is incredible. The classic CREAM gets a fresh coat of paint by being paired with the chilling piano instrumental. Do yourself a favor and peep the lyrics: Inspectah Deck's verse (the second half of the song) is one of the most raw descriptions of the struggle of street life that I have ever heard.

Fellow blaggggers how are we all??? Last night Duncan and I went out with our boy Derek and needless to say it was a fun night and was almost identical to the short story goose posted about (good looking.) Within the past two weeks here in the big CO it has been raining like crazy and by the end of the day you cannot do much because the weather just doesnt permit for you to do so, #IHATERAIN. Either way, after lounging and the pool for multiple hours with our boy Deezy we decided that we should BBQ and drink Rose because thats what the cool kids do, especially if you want to get ready for the FREAKnd, right Jimmers??????!!!!!!! Either way Dunc wanted to go out after but I was hesitant, I have LSAT shit to do and I had to work the next day (today), I did not want to go to crazy. Then, it started to rain and things really took a turn......

We no longer decided to BBQ but instead just get take out...Dunc got Thai that probably hurt when he threw-up last night....We still drank rose and after multiple glasses Dunc and our boy Derek convinced me that we have to go out in downtown because we havent gone DT since #thanksgiving #swag. That is when the Vodka was brought out and from then on I dont remember much of the evening other that when I woke up this morning at 10:00 I felt 100% and aside from the guilt of getting absolutely shitted I had a good feeling about the way things happened.

Hello boys! My sincerest apologies for my absence. I had nothing to blog about and when I finally did, I didnt have the time to do it (bullshit excuse I know. Eat one). I'm going to go a little intellectual on you boys so bear with me if I sound like a jackass. I've been reading a lot of books lately, one of them being The Oxford Book of American Short Stories.. Let me tell you, books are GREAT. Not only do you learn some stuff, but if you've got a stack of books next to your bed that you've actually read chicks begin to get the impression that you're not such a tard after all (no girl wants to smush a tard; Its unethical).

Anyway I came across a short story by Herman Melville, "The Paradise of Bachelors." Its definitely a great read and plays into the transition all you turds are going to be seeing in the upcoming years. As much as I didn't want to believe it, getting blacked out, breaking shit, starting fights, causing scenes, pulling fire alarms, etc. is not as cool as it used to be (if it was ever really coola t all). After college you start waking up embarassed and ashamed of yourself. These days its all about going out and being reasonably respectable and actually remembering the night. I will admit though that I've become a bit girl obsessed and have been missing the times spent pounding a few with the boys and chopping it up for a few hours (no, coked out convos at 3 am do not count toward this).

This is where my short story comes in. It essentially speaks on the good times men are able to have doing nothing more than sitting around, throwing a few back, and sharing their lives/reminiscing. My favorite line comes at the end of the story: "But fine though they be, bachelors' dinners, like bachelors' lives can not endure forever." So live it up boys because while this time is awesome and invaluable, it will not last forever. Enjoy your friendships now because before long we'll all be married to some whench with snot nosed kids running around. The days for fraternizing with the boys are golden. Cherish them.

Greetings boys. My apologies for my brief hiatus, just got back into town from a trip back east. I meant to give an update sooner, but my internet at my Mom's has been on the fritz and I almost smashed my computer to shreds. Anyhow, the trip was pretty rad, although my planning was poor and I didn't get to see Chief down there in Connecicut. But I did see a bunch of cool art, ate some ridiculous food, and seriously stepped up my wardrobe. Not much raging, but certainly a nice trip.

I'm back in the Denver now, and last night I had one of the most vivid dreams of my entire life. It certainly wasn't the coolest, but it felt so real that when I woke up this morning there was only one thing that I wanted to do: go to the pool.

In my dream last night, I was jumping off the diving board, throwing some gainers. Then, out of the blue, I threw a double-gainer and landed it with ease. I literally woke up giddy this morning with a fat smile on my face, checked in with the Kid, and made plans to mob to the pool around 12:30. Unfortunately, as soon as I got to the pool and did my first gainer, I realized that the dream was exactly that--a dream, and it wasn't going to happen today.

However, with my ego slightly deflated, I refused to leave the pool without throwing some sort of double. So naturally, I started thinking I could throw a double front. I had thrown a double front a few times when I was younger and much more coordinated, but usually they ended up with a big slap and a red back. But after a few over-rotated one and a halfs, Max brought out the white iPhone4 (swag) and captured it. Certainly not the prettiest thing, but hey, hopefully it'll entertain ya.

The real reason I am even posting is to drop some new tunez for my boyz. The song in the background of the video is a R.A.C. Remix of Theophilius London's Why Even Try. This song is an absolute gem. It has literally been on repeat for the last 14 hours, and I can't get enough of it. When I think of the eclectic music that gets posted on Hiplectic, this song certainly has appeal that everyone will be stoked on.

The next track is a new jam by everyone's favorite 22 year-old swedish dj Avicii. I'm not sure if this is old or new (the beat certainly sounds super familiar, but I don't think I've ever heard this version with the lyrics) but this new jam Fade Into Darkness (Vocal Radio Edit) would probably be the music in the trailer if someone made a movie about this past year at 6633. Such a great jam, miss you catz.

I'm not frothing as hard as der der right now since summer school has officially consumed my life. Session A is 3 weeks away from being over though and I have my eyes set on the festivities that Outside Lands will bring August 11th! HOOORAY for live music and friends! It;s been a little weird by my lonesome this summer and hit has now hit me that I am addicted to comedy and can't always get my fix anymore. I don't have Andres to laugh at as he constantly is looking for Mitro's ipod, Race's preworkout, his phone(s), wallet (or lack of), and an unsuspecting victims headphones. Not to mention all the other shenanigans living with 11 people provides. Thankfully I have the internet and telephone to harass and gossip with u all. Came across this the other day and loled for like half an hour!!!

Howzit. I'm tan as fuck and gonna look like a leathery 60 year old when I'm 30 but for some reason I just can't quit the sun. A new friend just recently commented that she doesn't do drugs cause she doesn't want to look old and "frumpy". I simply replied, "Just wear sunblock and you can do all the drugs you want." WELP, it's been a nice July 4th weekend. Went on a hike with the neighbor girls, woody and courtney up to the waterfalls.. Scary!! studied, bronzed, swam, read, and today went dt to hang with ring ding and got a beer and a bite at CK's spot. SB brew co. epic. Why hello everyone, happy July 4th. I wanted to share a couple of things which are on opposite ends of the emotional spectrum but oh well.

Item 1:

Apparently the fucking crazy-ass ruskies created a new drug that makes heroin look like pussy shit. It's called krokodil, because it makes the person's skin green and scale-like. Anyways here is the link if you want to watch a quick video on it. And an FYI for those with weak stomachs don't watch it. This shit is fucking gnarly so i don't want to hear anyone bitching about how gross it is and that they can't handle it.

I just watched this special on Sportscenter so I'm sure some of you may have seen it. I realize the video is kinda long, but this is an incredible story. I respect the hell out of this guy.

Greetings CHILLdren! I hope everyone's summer is sailing smoothly, and after hearing about the SoCal Rooftop Adventures from my boy Souzah (#bloggeroftheyear??) I thought I'd fill ya in what's been going down in Denver, and drop some ~~heaters~~ #CHILLers off our summer soundtrack.

Viski and I have been SUPER busy. Super busy #CHILLing that is. A day in the life in the Mile High City typically involves rolling out of bed with aspirations and dreams that only Sandy could sell. With a cup of tasty cappuccino in my belly (courtesy of Jay, the Barista) and caffeine pulsing through my veins, my ambitions for the next 12 hours begin formulating in my mind. "Wow, I should holler Viski and see if he wants to grab lunch at some new hip restaurant in the Highlands. Then we should grab our boardies and b-ball shoes and head to the club and lay by the pool for a while. After jumping off the d-board and soaking up some rays, we'll go hoop and mess around at the gym. When we're tired, we'll cruise by the store and grab some steaks and beer to BBQ with. Then we can get wasted and cruise out to a new bar by Wash Park. Late night, we should stop by our favorite spot the infamous Denver Diner, and eat some grease so we can do it all again tomorrow." After I've gotten off the phone with Max and explained all the things we've got planned, I'm already tired, and he simply replies "Come over, we'll figure it out." By the time I actually roll up the Max's house, the entire day's plan have usually transformed and mutated into a reoccurring pattern that has been dubbed "CHILLmode."

Chill mode is by no means a bad thing, but certainly tends to pry us away from our schedule. Instead of trying a new restaurant, we eat at CHILLpotle. And rather than having a Double-cork huck off at the pool, we wade in the shallow end and test to see if they actually have a chemical that makes the water change colors when you pee. Although we usually do go to the gym after our bodies are looking bronzed up, we usually challenge 6th and 7th graders to a game of hoops and end up impersonating our favorite Harlem Globetrotters.

The highlight of CHILLmode comes right around dusk. We've stocked up on enough Rosé Wine to survive a Zombiepacolypse, Brats and Corn are sizzling on the grill, the warm dry air has finally cooled down to the perfect temperature, and the sun is setting over the mountains to the West. Aside from becoming Rosé snobs, Grill masters, and Snus Connoisseurs (ask max about his experience with Snus Robust hahaha), our nights typically end with a few empty bottles of Rosé and some funny stories, in lieu of a $40 bar tab and a toilet full of french-toast and Jameson. This summer has certainly been one of the most mellow and low-key I've ever experienced, and the slow pace and flexibility of our plans will be certainly missed as summer fades to fall, and the Fast Forward button gets pressed again.

Before one try's to recreate CHILLmode, it is imperative that all of these activities must be accompanied by good friends, cheap wine, and most importantly CHILLtunes. Here are the highlights from our summer CHILLmix!

The first is a tune is by a dude named IanJ entitled Hey Girl off his latest mixtape called Summer Lights. I had never heard of this young man, but this song certainly caught my ear. Some #chill summer hip-pop over catchy guitar riffs. Definitely not a tune to rage too, but perfect summer driving tune.

The next jam that is getting heavy rotation in the whip is called "This Shit Feat. Sol" by DJ Jacks Green. You could not ask for a more soulful summertime anthem--perfect for sitting on porches and catching some tasty RAYs. I know there are a lot of hip-hop-haterz, but this song just makes you smile and realize how fucking sweet summertime is. SOULFUL beat x slow flow=AWESOME TRACK DOWNLOAD IT!!

The final, and the unanimous song of the summer (at least this far) is a jam called "Figure-8 Giggamesh Remix" by Outasight. I've posted some of there stuff before, and I think everyone was a big fan. This is an awesome track that has enough synth to make a party in your pants, but isn't so trancy that your eyes roll into the back of your head. If this got played at Tonic, I could guarantee that Andres would start shuffling, Mitro would probably zombie, DerDer would do something flamboyant, Jimmy would do the C-Strut, Todd would order another round of Johnny Walker Black label, Landon would be fist pumping from the booth, Souza would be making SharkAttacks, Chief would be throwing up in a cab ride back to IV, and I would be attempting to capture the awesomeness in it's entirety via iPhone for an X-CHILLSIVE edition of DT.TV.

Finally feeling normal again after an epic night in San Diego. Voyeur definitely lived up to the hype, and Im sure having Calvin Harris there didn't hurt either. We were lucky enough to book 2 rooms...I mean 2 suites at the classiest place in SD somehow which was a step up from the Rumor in LV. We grabbed a few drinks at the Tipsy Crow where they had this sick screen of the drink prices that went up and down depending on what was getting ordered the most, similar to the stock market...Im sure Chief would of loved it. Once we were in Voyeur, Mitro made it his personal job to make Calvin Harris as uncomfortable as possible by calling his name out when he was up stairs and walking by us so everyone in the club would draw their attention to him when he was just trying to relax before he went on haha #Classic. Der Der was on a mission to take Nervo (two hot twins that opened for Calvin) down at the end of the night, but somehow the resisted his boyish charm. A few PBR tall boys and a few guys later and we were all havin a blast and continued the party back at the hotel for Rodeway Rooftop sessions. We found ourselves gettin a great view of dt sd while we enjoyed the rest of the night from the rooftop. The Rodeway Inn still wasn't good enough for Loopy and his kitty tho, they bailed at the end of the night back to Andres cave to do kitten things. All in all I had a blast in SD with the homies and cant wait for the next trip. Heres a lil gem from the Rodeway Rooftop...

Here She Is

I've been thinking on this tattoo for about 4 years now and it was worth the wait. It started as the back of an old boat with the names "Elizabeth Marie" across the back. Turned into and anchor with the same names underneath. And finally arrived at the final design with Elizabeth curving across the top, Lee inside the cross bar of the anchor, and Marie straight across underneath. On Wednesday morning I was sitting in my tower and took about two hours of my day to draw up exactly what I wanted on the back of a rescue card. It was to scale and everything. After work, I called up my dude, who I got in touch with through my the famous Joey Reyes, and asked if he was free. I walked in and handed him my drawing, he tweaked the anchor a little bit for the better and so he could fit Lee in there too. Forty-five minutes and 80 bucks later I walked out with exactly what I wanted. I wanted the anchor and the text to be simple straight lines, I was going for the "Just got back from Nam.." look. The text is exactly how I drew it, the anchor just has slightly bigger triangle tips and the addition of Lee in it. It's imperfection gives it the uniqueness I was looking for. But now I have my whole family's middle names on me, Cheyenne Elizabeth, Lanny Lee, Lynn Marie, Chantelle Marie. Kerry likes it. I'll show you in person when I see ya. Cheers!
