In an attempt to create a vibe that embodies Cudi's persona as well as lifestyle, the Pursuit of Happiness video succeeds and sets the standard for what I believe is a new "hype." As many of you know, and for those of you who don't, the corner house crew refers to hype in terms of "whats in" whether it pertain to a chick, (Megan J. Spire) a new sneaker, (my new Air Max's) or simply a tangible object (the 4th floor pike study room.) I believe that Cudi and everything he represents and embodies has contributed or even created the new hype in popular culture. With an unmatched physical and musical style, Cudi has transformed rap from gangster to hipster. With realism in his flows, electronic inspired beats, and precisely chosen collaborations, Cudi has transformed mainstream rap into something creative music enthusiasts can relate to as well as appreciate. Here is the video to "Pursuit of Happiness," as well as my favorite song of 2009.

the question is whether or not you would of given the same review regardless of what was in the video or not... after all you choose to describe it as hype... not substance
