Came across this video today and I was quite confused until I heard the story behind it, then I was quite fascinated. John Cage was a modernist composer in the 1950's and this is his most famous and controversial work, four minutes and thirty-three seconds of silence. The score instructs the musician to not play his instrument, but to make three specific hand movements (the first being thirty seconds, the second being two minutes and twenty-three seconds, and the third being one minute and forty seconds). The piece is meant to consist of the sounds of the musicians environment through the duration of the hand motions.
Just wanted our 600th post do be the dullest ever. Cheers
