Next Minute to Win it Champ?? & New Health Attempt

Last week the casting crew for Minute To Win It (NBC's new game show) came up to Santa Barbara looking for some good contestants.... And I think they found a couple, the crew included some alpha phis, trey, baby pruett, kyle, conn, irwin, myself, and jeff "jeffee" Hinshaw; quite an interesting crew if I say so myself.
As you can see in the video we all had to perform a task flipping pencils into glass cup, trickier than it looks. They taped all of us and a couple got interviews but no word back yet. They definitely found a gem in Jeffee. I laugh when this guy opens his mouth let alone when he plans "on dressing preppy" in an attempt to steroid his way into winning a million bucks.
Check out this Susan Boyle moment.

Here's a quick summary of my latest nutrition whim in attempt to keep fellow hiplectors healthy and fit. The Nutrition and Fitness trainer for all the D1 teams at UCSB lectured in one of my classes last week and his nutrition advice was to carefully monitor your intake of starchy carbs and sugars. (not fats) The idea is not a new one, it is called your glycemic index. If you search that on google you can read all about the details and find the glycemic values in your foods, heres the premise though:
Our bodies digestive storing cycles are determined by the insulin levels in our blood. When we digest starchy carbs and sugars our bodies release this insulin. The insulin inturn triggers our bodies to store everything (the carbs, fats, proteins) and if you muscle cells do not need these they will all be stored as fat.
By categorizing post work-out meals and anytime meals one can best optimize their diet. After any type of strenuous workout the increased insulin is actually beneficial. At this time our muscles need nutrition to rebuild and the insulin triggers the food to go into the cells. (within 45 minutes) basically if your gonna eat a pizza do it then.
On the other hand anytime meals are low in starchy carbs and sugars so we don't store unneeded energy as fat.
The eating strategy isn't really a diet, its more of knowing the best times to consume different foods and I don't follow any portion sizes yet either. It really pushes eating alot of lean meats and vegetables so it keeps most followers happy.
If your interested in the details and meal charts they are all over the web and the eating plan is called the glycemic index and if you want to follow stricter standards look into the peleo diet (the caveman diet).
So here is a healthy new sandwich I tried today which fits well into the glycemic diet. Roasted peppers, portobello mushrooms, and eggplant with tomatoes, avocado, and sprouts on a grainy bread.
