Miike Snow-Black and Blue

As my current Miike Snow obsession continues...I give you this gem. Weird awesome video, catchy vocals and piano line, and a solid rock beat. Really what makes this song though, is the absolutely killer synth line behind the chorus. It's the stuff dreams are made up.

The Machine is Just Hype.

Landon introduced Hype machine to me in 2008 and It has seriously become a big part of my life. At first Landon was very worried this blog was going to see too much exposure in Isla Vista so he told me to keep it on the DL. I did, for the most part. I've always been very passionate about music and this site has been an extremely easy and fun way to discover new music. I know many of you use this site to download your music as well so I thought I'd share this interview with the founder of this great site.

A Better Place, A Better Time

While sitting in the library on a beautiful Friday afternoon in between classes, the appearance of one of my all time favorite songs on my ipod's shuffle selection has sparked a feverish desire to blog about it. (don't freak out, i still got something for Sunday) The aforementioned song, entitled "A Better Place, A Better Time", was written and recorded by the New Jersey ska-punk legends Streetlight Manifesto. For those not familiar with the genre, ska, and more specifically the sub genre ska-punk, is essentially a fusion between the raw and hungry nature of punk with the swagger of jazz. Streetlight Manifesto, whom many experts, including myself, consider to be the greatest ska-punk band of all time, feature very quick tempo punk-style (complete with an abundance of positivity) music coupled with amazing horn instrumentals that form a 20's swing/jazz/big-band-ish feel that makes for one extremely catchy and awesome experience.
