Jigga Man

So Jay-Z has been getting a lot of exposure in recent years for Beyonce, Watch the Throne, Blue Ivy and what not, but I wanted to draw some attention to some of his older work. I was doing a little retail therapy at the local CD store the other day and came across a used copy of 'Reasonable Doubt", Jay-Z's first album. Although the album is one of his most critically acclaimed pieces of work (even named number 250 on Rolling Stone's 500 best albums of all time), I had never listened to any of the songs before. Needless to say, 'Reasonable Doubt' has been on constant repeat in my car ever since. Coming out in '96, the album even features a couple beats by Gang Starr's DJ Premier and even a song with Brooklyn's own Biggie Smalls. Jay-Z has been identified so much with "modern rap" that its easy to forget he was around in the glory days of the genre. Anyways, whatever your attitudes are towards a little old skool east coast gangsta rap, definitely give this song a listen.
