GP Grows Up

(No real theme to this one, so Im just gonna put in some random pictures and captions along the way)

Whats up my fellow Hiplectonauts,

Its been a looooong time since my last post. In fact, its been way too long. With all of you guys gone there is definitely less pressure to keep my blogging game up but Ive been keeping current with everyone’s new posts (lucky for me there is only new material about once a month these days).

Ya boy in front of the White House

Anyways, I have been meaning to post something for a while now but it took Jimmy’s Twitter #callout to get my creative juices flowing again (or maybe it was those 10mgs I popped earlier). I don’t have a new edit to show off (props to J-Bone BTW) or a quirky DJ video, but a lot has gone down in the world of Hiplectic’s youngest member in the past couple of months so I thought I would fill you guys in on some of the biggest developments:

1. Im moving to Washington, DC. Soon. As in July 2nd soon.

This is pretty fucking crazy. I got a job with the PR firm I interned with over winter quarter. They specialize in radio advertising and marketing and its a really fun place so I am excited to get my “professional life” started over there. I know a decent amount of people in DC and I have a good sense of the city but as of right now I have no idea where I’m gonna live/who I'm gonna live with so that is pretty intimidating. I am scared about moving across the country away from all of my friends and family but those fears are small in comparison to how stoked I am. Speaking of fears..

My office building for the next couple of years.

2. I’m about to graduate As you guys have already ridden the rollercoaster of emotions that come with graduation, this might not seem like such a big development. But for me, Im pretty much freaking out about it. Im pretty sure Im ready, but who knows at this point. It still hasn’t hit me completely (I doubt it will for a while) but the realization that I won't ever live in IV again is slowly starting to creep into my life. Any advice/help/encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Beach party down at that weird brick building near Sands. One of the best parties ive seen at UCSB

Sorry if this one rambled a little bit, but thats what happens when you blog during an addy fueled study session. Anyways, it was awesome to see you guys over alumni weekend and I hope we can have some kind of reunion like that again soon. I hope we can get this blog fired up again because I want to be able to use this space as a way to keep up with all of my homies back on the west coast. I know its tough to keep it up, but Im gonna do my best to keep it live. If any of yall are going to be out my way in DC or the east coast in general, hit a brotha up.

Peace,
GP

PS. Almost made it one whole post without a song. IDK if you guys heard about this but Laura Jane Grace (formerly Tom Gable) aka the lead singer of Against Me! recently came out as being transgender. This news shocked the music community (more specifically the punk scene) as no prominent rockstar has ever been so public about something like that before. Against Me! has written, in my humble opinion, some of the best love songs of all time so the fact that the lead singer is going through a sex change definitely threw me off a little bit. Anyways, while it is a bit belated, I wanted to give some props to him/her so here is an awesome acoustic track from Against Me! Some great, easy listening tunage
