The Office

I don't get to go to Red Sox games, ride subways, play with bunny's, drink red bull, or balance check books at work, but I do get to jump out of helicopters into the ocean. As most of you know I switched from guarding towers in Malibu to a Junior Lifeguard Instructor in Malibu. Fuck black people and Burger King, aside from heroine addicts walking PCH from SB to LA, my backyard consists of pristine beaches and fun summer waves. A basic day in the life of a Leo Carrillo Junior Lifeguard Instructor... Show up at Leo North beach at 8 a.m. for an hour of paid PT, whether it be a long paddle on a 12 foot paddle board, dory practice (two man lifesaving boat), a run up the canyon, a buoy swim, or a surf if theres any swell. At 9 the kids arrive and we get right into stretches and calisthenics, then we have lecture and and activities from first aid training to body surfing lessons. Next comes lunch and free swim (my fav!). After lunch we have an hour of game time either playing dodge ball, beach flags, sand castle competitions, whatever. Then the kids go home at 2 and we do another hour of training for our JG assistants who are 15 and 16 year olds who want to try out to become real LG's. Then we hang out and shoot the shit to get our last hour and I'm home by 4.

On Tuesday LA County Fire Department's Rescue Heli came in to do a little demonstration for the kids. Knowing some other guards in the past who had done it, me and another instructor Kelsey went right up to the pilot and asked if we could jump. He was all for it and after learning neither of us had ever been in a helicopter he took us for a ten minute spin down by the famous County Line beach, up in the Santa Monica Hills, and finally back down to the ocean where I stepped onto the skid of a hovering helicopter and jumped under the incredible roar of the spinning blades just feet above my head. I was FROTHING to say the least. Here's the evidence.

Epic day at work.
CHUNESSSS
I don't think I've ever wanted to rap over a beat as bad as this one. Think, "Wet neon caves..."
Modeselektor - Art & Cash (SBTRKT Remix)

This one could go on one of my "Sex Trance" mixes for sure, this type of "Anjunadeep" progressive house holds a special place in my heart. Think, "Floating over a lonely tropical island on a summer night under a full moon with a beautiful woman..." Do it.
B.O.N.G. - A Better Place (Passenger 10 Because Of The Vibes Remix)

Summer anthem. Think, "Landon DJing at Sandbar..."
Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me (Gigamesh Remix)

I Love You.

Der Der... that is freaking awesome. I would switch jobs with you in a second. I would be out of breath and colapsed by Nine am according to your schedule however. I am doomed to my cubicle.
